Director of Operations/Strategy

WeBuyGold is changing what it means to be a media company in 2017. We don't have an app. We're not on TV. Our content lives on and is made for the platforms you already use the most. We're making animated shows with the some of the biggest stars in hip-hop (think Adult Swim meets MTV) and our creative director is DJ Khaled.

We just launched our first series on Instagram, The Year 2100 feat. 21 Savage, and have seen explosive growth ever since. Our followers have grown over 700% in just two short weeks and the series has gotten 9 million views and one million engagements so far across social. WeBuyGold was originally incubated at Naritiv (product acquired by Hootsuite in early 2017). We're headquartered in Los Angeles and graduated in fall 2014 from the Techstars/Disney Accelerator. Our investors include Greylock Partners (Facebook, Linkedin, etc.), Allen DeBevoise (Machinima founder and investor in Awesomeness, MiTú, etc), Chris Williams (previously Chief Audience Officer at Maker Studios), Adam Nash (Greylock, Wealthfront), Chris Silbermann (Founding Partner of ICM) and Richard Wolpert (Accel Partners and Amplify).

The Role:

As the Director Operations/Strategy, this person will be responsible for overall day-to-day operations of the company. This position works closely with our CEO and oversee multiple divisions as we grow, including FP&A, Strategy, HR/Recruiting. Doing just one role all the time would be boring to this person and they thrive when taking on multiple projects. We are looking for a candidate who is a jack-of-all-trades that can do pretty much anything and everything to move a company forward. This person must have experience operating consumer businesses in either media or commerce. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the CEO and working closely with our CFO and board in all aspects of growing and making sure proper infrastructure is set
  • Oversee all recruitment, hiring, onboarding and retention
  • Manage and direct company operations to meet budget and other financial goals
  • Handle AP/AR and work with our finance team on accounting items
  • Project lead and strategy on new initiatives from things like shows, products, and verticals

Requirements:

  • Min. 5 years experience in Operational leadership roles in media/consumer brand
  • Leadership and communication skills that make everyone love working for you
  • Be creative
  • Be incredibly organized
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • You can do Excel in your sleep
